Sheets music for the mind.
The evocative power of the image.Gabriel Fernández was born in September 1973 in Mendoza, Argentina. He is a professor and graduate in visual arts. Currently he dedicates his time to the writing of short stories, to the production of sculptures, engravings and independent drawings and illustrations for the publishing field.
Gabriel also works as a teacher in the Sculpture Workshop of the Faculty of Arts, as well as in the Ceramic Modeling Workshop, both of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, in Mendoza, Argentina. From 1993 to present he has carried out numerous exhibitions locally, nationally and internationally. As an illustrator, he has collaborated for prestigious media inside and outside the country (Clarín, Los Andes, El Mercurio, among others). He has also obtained different awards for his plastic work in all the aforementioned disciplines.
His work is particularly marked by narrative aspects, by the symbolic value of the characters and objects that inhabit his imagination. He also considers important the evocative power of the image in the mind of the viewer; and above all the active role of the observer, who intervenes with his experiences, putting together his own story from what is seen.
That is why he prefers to take his works as if they were “sheets music for the mind”.
