Each work of art brings with itself a small part of lived life,
transformed and reproduced by the artist to capture the attention of the viewer.Chemistry and painting coexisted side by side throughout his life. He always carried out artistic activity interposing it with the career of academic chemist, especially during the years abroad or away from his family. Professor of Organic Chemistry for more than 30 years at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, conducted, among others, courses in “Organic Art Materials” and “Pigments and Colorants” and wrote the textbook “Organic Chemistry for Artists and Restorers”.
During the stay in the United States he could closely observe the works by A. Wyeth, fascinated by the virtuosity of his “dry brush” paintings. Without any further detail, he started a series of experimentations which led to the independent development of an original technique based on watercolor where the relationship pigment-binder is optimal both for the transparency, vividness and brightness of the colors. The pictorial weft obtained using paintbrushes, paper and fabric is particularly fit to describe the surface of still lives, figures and landscapes.
The transparences and glazes obtained both directly and through careful removals of colors could not be reached by using other painting techniques. The result regarding contrast and brightness are so relevant that he has been often invited to describe his technique in academies and art institutions. He is permanently present and represented by art galleries since 1998.
